What to do if you have experienced racial discrimination
· Seek legal counsel and advise.
· Go to the local legal aid office
· Go to human rights office
· File an Equal Employment Office Commission complaint (EEOC) if the matter is employment related
· Contact the local American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) office for guidance
· Contact the state offices of human and civil rights
· Or civic associations like the Urban league, NAACP, or legal advocacy groups like the NAACP legal defense fund.
Call for research participants: Investigations of Racial Discrimination
Study ONE is a descriptive investigation with open ended questions you tell your story and how you were affected by the racial incident if you had one you can also indicate that you have not had an experience with racial discrimination and complete part of the study.
Study TWO also involves some description of your experience it includes survey questions in this study you tell your story and indicate through responses to the survey question items your reactions to the incident.
In brief my expertise and past experiences are outlined -
My expertise is centered on the study of race, culture, and racial identity (psychological resolutions regarding ones racial group). My consultation activities have involved applying my expertise to practical issues in legal cases, education and with institutions and organizations.
My current work is focused on understanding the stress and/or trauma associated with racism in employment and other settings. I am investigating the role of racial identity ego statuses in stress and traumatic reactions and how race-related stress effects health and mental health.
I have been retained as a legal consultant and expert witness on cases and issues associated with:
· Biracial custody and transracial adoption.
· Racial discrimination in corporations and organizations.
· Racial discrimination and harassment in schools, Colleges and Universities.
· Educational equity and Desegregation.
· Environmental racism.
· Minority community participation in sensitive projects and proposals.
I provide through developing a report as part of my testimony (or consultation) a research-based perspective on the issues in the case and where possible a race-based assessment.
I have consulted with a range of organizations and institutions and provided the following services:
· Staff development training.
· Organizational assessment and team building.
· Diversity training.
· Training for racial-cultural competence.
